Year 3/4

Welcome to Year 3/4

Year 3/4 is when your children begin their exciting learning journey into Key Stage 2. As they get a little older, we encourage them to take greater responsibility for their own learning and to grow as independent individuals. We continue to instill in them a sense of curiosity and wonderment about the world around them, and achieve this by studying a wide variety of stimulating topics. Above all, we are keen for them to be confident risk takers and promote the view of ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained!’

The Year 3/4 Team

Our Year 3/4 class teachers are Mrs Bailey, Miss Kirk and Miss Simpson. Our fabulous learning support assistants, Mrs Chalmers, Mr Webster and Mrs Prescott, also work with our children, enabling them to make the best possible progress.

Homework

We set homework to consolidate the learning in the classroom and develop a working partnership between school and home. This is a wonderful way for you, as parents, to find out what your child has been working on at school. Here is an overview of homework expectations in Year 3:
  • 20 minutes reading Monday to Friday
  • Weekly spelling quiz
  • A weekly task chosen by the pupils from their homework grid.  This is sent home at the start of each half term.

What can parents to do help?

  • Keep up-to-date with your child's learning via Tapestry.  Please feel free to 'like' and leave comments.
  • Enjoy reading books with your child and continue to sign their reading record.
  • Check and sign your child's homework diary each week.
