16.10.18 Harvest Worship in Church

Harvest Family Service

Today, the whole school, along with all of our Mummies and Daddies, attended Church for our annual Harvest Service. All of our children have worked extremely hard over the previous weeks to create some beautiful Harvest Art Work. The artwork was displayed throughout church and it was lovely to see so many families there at this special time of year.

As the children arrived, they all presented their donations and put them at the front of the alter. The generosity of all our families was clear with the number of tinned and packet foods donated.

Father Kevin opened the service welcoming everyone and explaining how the donations were going to be used to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We opened the service singing 'Harvest Samba' with the children using their wonderful actions to 'Cabbages and greens, broccoli and beans, cauliflower and roasted potatoes tastes so good to me!'

The children sang their hearts out and raised the roof with their beautiful words!

This service was the first in which our newly formed JAM Club were able to fulfil their role - We had children reading verses from the Bible about Harvest and how Jesus taught us to share with everyone. Some JAM members read prayers about those less fortunate than us and even read out a poem which told the meaning of Harvest. The children held up each letter and followed it with a sentence regarding the Harvest Festival. JAM squad have been writing their own prayers and preparing their own poems in the previous weeks, ready for this special service.

A special mention to About for reading the initial Bible Passage, "Our Bible passage for today is from Matthew 9, vs 37-38. The Harvest is large, but there are few workers to gather in it. Pray to the owner of the Harvest that he will send out workers to gather in it."

We also had the pleasure of hearing poems from Carla and Freya in Y5. Amy then led the JAM Harvest Acrostic Poem with the help of Isabella, Josh, Lucas, Freya, Carla, Nadine, Matilda, Darcie, Michael, About and Davina.

We ended our special service by giving thanks to all of the families for the generosity and the children raised the door once more singing 'Hooray for Harvest'.

Just before we left, Myles finished the service with a beautiful prayer.

A special thank you to all our families for joining us and supporting us with this visit, whether it be through donations, attending church to support your little one or helping us to walk our St John's Family down to Church.

Her Majesty The Queen 1926 - 2022. We pay tribute to our late Queen; her passing is a great loss to the British people. She devoted her life to her country and to the service of others. Thank you our kind-hearted Queen!
