The Gift - Advent

Mrs Lightfoot welcomed everyone into Worship this morning. We had lot of tired faces in Worship this morning as our children were still in school up to 9pm last night for our wonderful Christmassy Events! Reception-Y4 all attended the Elf Markets and then Y5 returned for the Christmas Movie Night.

The children opened our assembly singing 'It was on a starry night'. It was lovely to see them using their actions which they learnt for the Sing-A-Long Carol Services last week.

Today, Father Kevin joined us for our weekly worship. He asked the children all about their Christmas Festivities which they had been enjoying in school. He praised the children for their acting, singing and partaking in all of the Christmas sing-a-longs, Nativities and the Church Services.

Father Kevin reminded the children that every week another candle is lit to mark the weeks of advent. He then lit the candles in school - all three of the purple candles and the pink one! He reminded the children that we use songs and our Nativities to retell the Christmas story.

He welcomed Fatima up to the front as she was Mary in the Nativity. The children told Father Kevin that Mary was visited by an angel - Angel Gabriel. Mary was confused because she had a husband and couldn't have a different baby! Gabriel explained that this was the will of God and people would understand - she would have a baby boy who would be the King of the World. He was coming to save everyone.

Dear Father God,

We thank you for the message that you gave us at this time of year. We thank you for Mary's response of 'yes' when she was asked to have your son. We hope that you will guide us to say 'yes' to follow your teachings and the lead a Christian Lifestyle!

Her Majesty The Queen 1926 - 2022. We pay tribute to our late Queen; her passing is a great loss to the British people. She devoted her life to her country and to the service of others. Thank you our kind-hearted Queen!
