British Values
Promoting Fundamental British Values
At St. John’s, we are committed to helping our children grow into kind, respectful and responsible citizens, fully prepared for life in modern Britain. In line with guidance from the Department for Education, we actively promote British values throughout our curriculum and school life.
We teach our pupils to respect and value people of all backgrounds, faiths and cultures. They learn that while people may have different beliefs about what is right and wrong, everyone living in England is protected by, and must follow, the same laws.
Our approach to British Values is rooted in our strong Christian ethos and the clear values and vision shared by all staff and leaders. These principles are woven through our school culture, relationships and curriculum so that they are lived every day, not just taught.
They Key values are:
- Democracy
- Rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
