Eco Work

We are very proud to have been awarded the prestigious 'Eco Green Flag', an award which symbolises excellence in environmental activity.  We were presented with this accolade for our children's commitment to investigating green issues and for caring for everyone and everything. This award is one which requires a re-assessment every two years and remarkably we have successfully achieved our 4th accreditation in October 2016!

Eco Schools is an International Award Programme which guides schools on a sustainable journey.  Click the link on the left to visit the 'Eco-Schools England' page.  If you navigate to the 'Case Studies' area of this site which is on the left hand menu bar, you will find our school's contribution.

Mrs Williams is our 'Eco Warrior' and she champions environmental work throughout school, promoting recycling, upcycling and energy saving strategies.

Thanks to the dedication of Mrs Williams our Eco work is embedded within our exciting curriculum.  Through our inspiring learning themes, children enjoy exploring aspects such as healthy living, habitats, how things grow and global citizenship.

Through our Eco work we have created our own wildlife garden and community garden and we also have our very own willow mouse where children can go for moments of reflection.

We host an annual 'Earth Day' where children enjoy time on green activities such as willow weaving, litter picking and paper making. We welcome visitors such as 'Derek the Bee Keeper,'Wings of Prey' and we are always well supported by Wigan Council representatives and local businesses like Asda and B&Q
