What a gorgeous day we have had today! They were able to showcase their fantastic knowledge about rivers including the parts of the river, the processes of erosion and deposition as well as identifying creatures using a classification chart.
This morning, the children completed two activities: pond dipping and identifying creatures using classification charts, and identifying the parts of the river followed by measuring the speed at which the water was flowing by racing ducks! It was a really informative morning and the children blew me away with how much they knew!
We then had lunch and reapplied our suncream ☀️
After lunch, we went to a different section of the river to measure the width and depth of the water at 50cm intervals. The children then searched the river bed for different stones: some found pieces of quartz which they were allowed to take home with them too.
Well done Year 4 🫶🏻
