Lilford Park Geography Field Trip

This afternoon Year 1 went to Lilford Park to carry out some geography fieldwork. We were so impressed at how far they all walked! We think you might have some sleepy children tonight! 😴😴 The children behaved impeccably and were super smiley throughout. They were a pleasure to spend time with. 😊
Whilst at the park we carried out some data collection. This term we have been talking about how people spend their leisure time. We observed people in the park and the ways that they used the park for leisure time. We gathered this information using a tally chart and we will transfer this data into a pictogram.
We also thought about how different people would like to use the park depending on different age categories. The children put themselves in the shoes of other people and used the masks to view the park through the eyes of a grandma/grandad, teen boy/girl and a child girl/boy.
Our final activity was to spot some human and physical features during our walk. We will use this information to make a map of Lilford Park in class next week,
Before we headed back to class, we had time for a treat snack and a play on the playground.
What a brilliant afternoon in the sunshine! 😊😊
