Manchester Museum of Transport
Year 2 children went on an interesting trip to the Museum of Transport on Manchester today. They learned all about the progress of transport, going back in time in the 1800's where they discovered the first form of public transport in Greater Manchester. The first bus that passengers could travel on was powered by horses! Their journey took them through time to the first electrically powered bus and on to the first diesel powered engine. The children even had the opportunity to board a bus that previously ran the Leigh route before being retired in 1978 that was owned by the Lancashire Corporation and was blue and white! The museum staff expressed how well behaved our children were and how inquisitive they were too.
