  • Year 5 London Trip 2019

    Mon 24 Jun 2019

The Year 5 children have been on an amazing trip to London for their residential. They got to take in the sights of London city centre, including the London Eye, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace to name but a few. They took part in a tour of the Houses of Parliament , seeing both the House of Lords and the House of Commons in action, learning of their history and future jobs. They were absolutely amazed! The children took part in a debate workshop and also got to see our local MP Jo Platt. After a busy day of sight seeing, the children returned to their accommodation for their evening meal of pizza, before heading out to watch the wonderful West End stage show of the Lion King! The children saw the delights of this show, in awe of the effects and music. After such a busy day they then headed off to bed to recharge their batteries before day 2.

Day 2 began bright and early with a continental breakfast, before a short walk for fresh air and then they were off for their exciting visit to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour of The Making of Harry Potter! Their excitement could not be contained upon arrival. They had a picnic lunch on the lawn before heading inside to see the mesmerising sights of the sets from the Harry Potter films. All in all, this was an amazing trip and an awe inspiring experience for our Year 5 children! They behaved impeccably well on every part of the journey, with such beautiful manners throughout. A special thank you goes out to the London Staff for dedicating their time to facilitate our children in a magical experience.

  • Touchstones Workshop - Victorian Holidays

    Wed 19 Jun 2019
We had a special visit from an old friend to St John's - Mrs Williams! As part of our topic, we looked at holidays in Victorian times. We have loved going back in time to learn about holidays from the past. We enjoyed working alongside our 'Creative Questor' Mrs Williams to explore what Victorians wore, what they would do on holiday and what they would play with. We looked at some artefacts from the museum and made our own mini museum. The children were so enthusiastic throughout the day and demonstrated super behaviour and teamwork. A great day had by all! A very special thank you goes out to Mrs Williams and the Touchstone team.
