Keep up to date with all that's happening!
Leigh St. John’s Warriors girls team continued their amazing season by winning their final league game of the season, going unbeaten winning every game. They saved their best performance for the last game, winning 4-0 against another team who also were unbeaten. Congratulations to two of our players for receiving their joint player of the match awards- one for their performance scoring 4 goals and one for her tireless work in defence. A special mention goes out to Mr Miller for his tireless efforts in training this inspiring team!
Well done for an excellent end to the season Warriors!👏🏼👏🏼
For the last 4 weeks we have been running an inclusive football programme giving children the opportunity to play football. This has been a brilliant success, culminating in this Sunday playing a match against a local Eastleigh inclusion team.
What an amazing morning of football we had at Leigh Sports Village with our amazing St. John’s football team playing against the local Eastleigh team. Mr Miller was very proud of all the lads for their efforts, sportsmanship and sheer fun of the game had by everyone. We hope they enjoyed it as much as the smiles on their faces suggested.
Well done to all those involved you made us very proud 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What a wonderful time we had this afternoon at the KS1 dance competition in association with ATSA. The children were asked to perform a 2 minute dance based on any theme. Our chosen theme was about Love. A huge congratulations go out to them as they came in second place! The children danced their socks off and made us incredibly proud. We were so impressed with all of them, who showed impeccable behaviour and wonderful dancing. 👏🏼
The children should be so proud of themselves for all of their hard work and determination. ♥️
Today the children were delighted to see the return of Mrs Williams and The Goofus Puppet company. Throughout the day, each class experienced the delights of the Goofus performance about Rosie and her journey into a memory. After the performance, the children were able to take part in a question and answer session, learning much about the puppetry world and how the puppets were made. Lots of awe, wonder and smiles were experienced throughout this fantastic day.
Today the children were treated to another delightful visit from the POP Project. Their theme was reach for the stars. They began by speaking about our aspirations and dreams, what kind of jobs we would like to do when we grow up and how looking further to our families, friends and within the wider community the ways in which people do aspirational acts within their everyday lives. The children had a great time and were very deep thinkers on the subjects touched upon.
We’ve had a lovely (and cold! ❄️) day at Kenyon Hall Farm. The children were absolute superstars and coped so well in the cold conditions, I think the snow made the trip even more exciting for the children! Thank you for wrapping them up nice and toasty! When we arrived we learn’t all about different types of grains that they grow on the farm and explored lots of different vegetables. We then had a walk around the farm, exploring the first signs of Spring. The children enjoyed jumping in muddy puddles and catching the snow on their tongues! 😊 We spotted lots of different trees and talked about which ones are evergreen and deciduous. Back in the farmers classroom we planted some peas that we look after in school. The children have learnt all of the important things that a seed needs to grow. We will update you on the progress of their seeds! The children were very well behaved and did St.Johns proud. 💛💛
This morning the children have been visited by members of the Greater Manchester Fire Service. Local firemen came to discuss the dangers of fires in our homes and places around us, how to contact 999 and what we should do in case of a fire to keep us safe.
We watched videos to show us the dangers of what can happen when teenagers lit a fire on school grounds, the damage this can cause and the consequences of what happened. Some of our children demonstrated STOP, DROP AND ROLL for themselves being on fire and were also able to try on the personal safety equipment that firemen are required to wear when responding to emergencies.
The children were very respectful and asked sensible questions when given the opportunity.
A great visit from our local fire service!
