  • ASTA First Aid Event

    Tue 28 Feb 2023

Well done to our Year 6 sports Leaders who attended the first aid event as part of ASTA.
The children were able to have the opportunity to learn some basic first aid through role play and gain some vital knowledge to help them should they find themselves in an emergency situation. They looked at speaking to the 999 service, dangers around them and when it is or is not appropriate to attend to an injured person, how to deal with bleeding, how to put someone who is breathing normally into the recovery position, how to tell if someone is breathing normally and how to perform CPR. The children did a great job and represented Leigh St Johns with superb attitudes. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

  • ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿœ Lilford Park Y2 Trip ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ›

    Mon 13 Feb 2023

Wow what a fantastic afternoon we have had!๐ŸŒณ

Year 2 had a brilliant time walking around Lilford Park finding a range of habitats and micro-habitats. We enjoyed exploring these habitats and finding the different animals that lived there.

๐Ÿ“ธWe used the Ipads to take pictures of the habitats and the creatures that we found.

๐Ÿ” We used the magnifying glasses and the investigation tubs to look at the animals and mini-beasts closely.

โœ๏ธWe used our scientific knowledge to write about why these animals lived in these habitats.

We found squirrels, birds, woodlouse, centipedes, bees, millipedes, worms, spiders and ants. ๐Ÿœ

Year 2 walked beautifully to the park and their behaviour was exceptional whilst we were there. What superstars you all are!โœจโœจ

Well done to all the lads on a brilliant performance and well done to H on getting man of the match for the excellent performance in midfield!

  • โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ›กY3 Chester Trip

    Thu 09 Feb 2023

We have had blast on our trip to Chester!
It was the perfect trip to complete our topic about the Romans. The museum educational team were blown away with how much the children could remember about our Roman’s topic.

When we arrived, we enjoyed looking at a range of Roman artefacts and guessing what they were used for during the Roman period. After this, the children had an opportunity to take part in a range of challenges from dressing up as a Roman to building a Roman building.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a Roman soldier tour to the Roman amphitheatre in Chester. When we arrived, the children completed a range of different soldier formations, and they had to defend their army line against the barbarians (school staff). ๐Ÿ˜‚

Before we left we had an opportunity to look around the two Roman museum rooms.

We had such an enjoyable trip!

  • ๐Ÿฆง๐Ÿฆ Chester Zoo Trip Y5 ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆง

    Wed 08 Feb 2023

What a brilliant day we had today at Chester Zoo!

We saw sooo many animals in their enclosures today, and we discussed the difference between their natural habitat to the enclosures they were in at Chester Zoo. Mostly, we found the zoo created enclosures as similar to the natural habitat as they could - many were being refurbished and the zoo keepers were happy to share the reasons for this.

The children also took part in a conservation workshop where they saw the problems animals face in the wild : deforestation, poaching, extinction etc. they saw real items which had been made of real animals and discussed the reasons for this - money and signs of being rich and wealthy.

We tried to see all of the animals which the children asked to see. We were VERY lucky to see almost all of them, with the exception of the bear which was not out in its enclosure.

The children were brilliant and the zoo keepers commented on the inquisitive questions that they asked when in the workshop. It was also lovely to see them moving out of the way to allow younger children to get closer to the enclosures, enabling everyone to see fairly.

    Well done everyone ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

  • ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•Reception Pizza Express Trip ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•

    Tue 07 Feb 2023

What a fantastic morning we’ve had at Pizza Express!

The children enjoyed making their own individual pizzas. They rolled the dough, added the tomato sauce and sprinkled on the cheese. Then, we watched the chef pop them into the oven whilst they baked.

The children are so excited to bring their pizzas home to show their families what they’ve been up to.  When making the pizzas, the children washed their hands, built their own individual pizza and were then given a number for their pizza. This number ensured that each child got back the pizza that they had created themselves.
    Well done Reception! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•
