  • Spelling Bee KS1

    This morning some of our children took part in the KS1 spelling bee. They competed against a number of other local schools displaying their knowledge through if various spelling challenges throughout the morning. The group were teamed with an adult from another school to ensure that the children relied upon their own skills. The competition was very close and our children came in joint 4th place with only 1 point difference for 3rd place! Well done team St John's!
  • Fathers Day Breakfast

    What a fun filled morning our children and their special men have had! Fathers, Grandads, uncles and special men attended our Fathers ' day breakfast to show them how much we care and appreciate them. They were treated to breakfast followed by an all about them questionnaire, with games in the garden to follow. Thank you for being so important in our lives! We wish all of our Dad's, Grandads and significant men a wonderful Father's Day on Sunday!
  • Leigh Games KS2

    Today some of our Keystage 2 children took part in Leigh Games at Leigh Sports Village. Children were split into smaller groups to take part in the various activities including 

    speed stacking, Kurling, Boccia, Quad kids (50m, 400m races, standing long jump and Vortex howler throw), Dodge ball, Badminton, archery and Tag rugby. All of the children had great fun and showed great sportsmanship throughout the day. Well done team st John's!

  • Digital Leaders Minecraft and Animation trips

    In recent weeks our year 4 digital leaders have been taking part in workshops on how to use Minecraft and I can animate to enrich their school curricul by combining ict. In the Minecraft workshop the children learned how to build worlds according to a set criteria linking to their topic work. They used their knowledge of Egyptians to build their own pharaoh's, selecting appropriate materials such as gold blocks for the pharaoh's battle armour. In the animation workshop the children learned how to storyboard and use stop animation create a short movie. All of the children returned to school buzzing with excitement from their selected afternoons! Thank you to Mrs Temel for hosting us 😃
  • Music Service assembly

    This afternoon the children were treated to a special music assembly by the Music Service. Starting in September, the children in years 2 to 5 will be offered the opportunity to take part in receiving music lessons using a variety of instruments such as violin, guitar, keyboard, etc. A letter will be sent home for parents and carer's to fill in should your child wish to take part. The current uptake for music lessons is highly popular with a large number of pupils learning instruments already!
