  • Super Car fun! 🚙🚗😣

    Wed 14 Mar 2018
The children in Year 2 took a trip to Bolton University today to look at super cars as part of their transport topic. Their trip began on a bus journey were they took the 582 bus to Bolton. The children had great fun travelling on the bus, especially on the double decker! Once we arrived a Bolton university, we met our tour guide who took us over to view the super cars that were there on loan from their various owners. They discussed the process of how a super car is made from conception to completion. The children had the opportunity to see and hear a rally car that the university students were working on for an upcoming race. They discovered it was particularly loud! Next our children were taken to see a top secret super car that has begun production on building into a working model, the first of its kind which the designers and builders hope to use to beat a world record! They also had the opportunity to learn about the role of an engineer when they met Liam before designing their own creation. They had to design something which they wanted to make their lives better, anything they could possibly imagine. Their designs can be sent off to a national competition in which the winner will see their design built by the students at Bolton University should they win! So we wish them all good luck! What an exciting day the children had!
  • Mothering Sunday Church Service 🌸🌹🌷

    Mon 12 Mar 2018
This afternoon the children and their special ladies attended a Mother's Day church service led by Father Kevin. Each of the classes got up to perform a song dedicated to their mums in front of the congregation. Each and everyone of the children blew our socks off with their beautiful singing and made all of us super proud. There wasn't a dry eye in the church! We learned from the children some of the things that they had done to make Mothering Sunday special for their special ladies with the help of Father Kevin's questions. It sounds like the children had a wonderful day with their special ladies indeed! 🌸💐🌷

  • Manchester Museum of Transport

    Wed 07 Mar 2018
Year 2 children went on an interesting trip to the Museum of Transport on Manchester today. They learned all about the progress of transport, going back in time in the 1800's where they discovered the first form of public transport in Greater Manchester. The first bus that passengers could travel on was powered by horses! Their journey took them through time to the first electrically powered bus and on to the first diesel powered engine. The children even had the opportunity to board a bus that previously ran the Leigh route before being retired in 1978 that was owned by the Lancashire Corporation and was blue and white! The museum staff expressed how well behaved our children were and how inquisitive they were too.
  • Firefighters for the afternoon!🚒🚨☄

    Fri 02 Mar 2018
What a wonderful afternoon experience our Reception children have had! Special visitors arrived in a big, red fire engine delighting the children! Manchester firefighters came along to speak to the Children about their very important job, which included how they care for people and animals in the community and the protective clothing that they need to wear when out on a call in the case of a fire. They got to see Mrs Peet dress for the occasion in the firefighters protective clothes which were extremely heavy and incredibly hot to wear! After that the children were treated to a go at using the fire hose which was very difficult indeed as the water coming out of it is so powerful! Take a look at a selection of photos from the visit. A special thank you is extended to the Manchester firefighters for taking the time out of their busy day to educate the children on the importance of fire safety! 🚒🚨🚒
  • The day the chicks came to visit 🐥🐣🐥

    Fri 02 Mar 2018
Today the year 2 children had a special visit from some lively chicks! The children had a wonderful time handling the newborn chicks who were just a few days old, the youngest having been born just the day before! The children showed great care when handling them, carefully passing them to their friends so that everyone could have a turn. Everyone showed such bravery, even when the chicks decided they wanted to hop off to the next person. A special thank you is extended to Imogen's mum for bringing the chicks in for us to see. 🐣🐥
